Keep Your Spa Clean, Safe, and Ready to Enjoy, All Year Long
A Fresh, Healthy Spa, Every Time
A clean spa is a relaxing spa. But hot water is demanding. It helps bacteria grow fast and changes chemistry faster than a pool. So an unattended spa can turn cloudy or scaly in days. Poncho’s keeps your inground spa fresh, balanced, and ready when you are. We serve New Braunfels and Comal County, and we specialize in built-in spas and pool-spa combos. We service inground and built-in spas that are part of a pool system. We do not service standalone or portable hot tubs or jacuzzis.
Why Spas Need Specialized Care Here
Spas run hot, and in our hard-water area that matters. Higher temperatures make calcium leave the water faster. This causes scale to build up more quickly on spa surfaces, jets, and heaters than in pools. Staying ahead of it with regular cleaning protects both the look and the equipment. If a component has already been affected, our spa repair team can help. Our experienced spa cleaners understand these local water conditions.
Part of a Bigger Care Plan
Many of our local spa cleaning customers also choose weekly pool service for their pool-spa combo. This keeps the whole backyard balanced on one schedule.

Why Regular Spa Cleaning Pays Off
What’s Included in Our Spa Cleaning Service
Water Chemistry Testing & Balancing
We test and adjust all key water parameters, including:
pH
Alkalinity
Sanitizer levels (chlorine, bromine, or salt)
Calcium hardness
New Braunfels’s hard water makes proper chemical balance even more essential. Without it, scale builds up quickly on heaters, jets, and the spa surface, reducing efficiency and increasing operating costs.
Surface Skimming, Brushing & Vacuuming
We remove leaves, bugs, pollen, and fine debris from:
The water surface
Steps, benches, and seats
The spa floor
All interior surfaces are brushed to prevent biofilm, scum, and buildup, a common issue in warm water environments.
Jet & Filter Cleaning
Spa jets accumulate oils, minerals, and debris faster than pool jets due to heat and pressure. We:
Inspect and flush spa jets to restore flow
Clean or replace spa filters as needed
Remove hair, oils, and minerals that restrict circulation
This keeps your jets performing strongly and helps maintain perfectly clear water.
Debris, Oil & Scum Removal
Body oils, lotions, sunscreen, and cosmetic residues collect rapidly in spas. We use spa-specific cleaners and tools to eliminate:
Oil buildup
Surface scum
Film around the waterline
Residue inside the filter
This prevents cloudy water and unpleasant odors.
Draining & Deep Cleaning (As Needed)
For heavily used spas or seasonal resets, we recommend draining and deep cleaning every 3–4 months. This service includes:
Full interior shell scrub-down
Jet line treatment
Complete refill
Full chemical rebalance
This is especially important for spas in areas with heavy pollen or hard water.
Equipment & Cover Inspection
We inspect all major spa components, including:
Heater
Blower
Circulation pump
Timer
Ozone/salt systems (if applicable)
Jets
Valves and seals
Spa covers are cleaned and checked for heat retention, weather wear, and proper sealing.
Signs Your Spa Needs a Cleaning
Cloudy or foamy water, a scaly ring at the waterline, weak jet pressure, or water that just does not feel fresh are all signs your spa is overdue. If you also notice heating or flow problems, that may point to scale or a component issue worth a closer look.

Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve shared a series of our most common questions and answered them. If you need additional information or have other questions, never hesitate to reach out to us.
Our area’s hard water plus higher spa temperatures make calcium drop out of the water faster, causing scale to build up on shells, jets, and inside heaters more quickly than in pools. That buildup can cloud water, reduce jet pressure, and strain equipment. Poncho’s understands these local water conditions, stays ahead of scale with routine cleaning and balancing, and can coordinate spa repair if a component has already been affected.
The service is detailed and thorough:
- Spa vacuuming and debris removal
- Full water testing and balancing for spa chemistry
- Filter rinsing and inspection
- Surface and shell cleaning
- Waterline treatment to control scale and buildup
- A quick system check to flag developing issues early
Look for cloudy or foamy water, a scaly ring at the waterline, weak jet pressure, or water that doesn’t feel fresh. Heating or flow problems can also point to scale or a component issue that deserves a closer look.
Because spas run hot and hold relatively little water, chemistry shifts quickly and problems escalate fast. Skipping care leads to cloudy water, scale, and irritated skin, while accumulated scale strains the heater and weakens jets. Regular cleaning keeps water clear and comfortable and helps equipment last longer. If your spa has gone too far, Poncho's can reset it with a deep clean and, if needed, spa repair.
